Website maintenance & upkeep

Updates, security, backups — continuously, in the background

A website is not a piece of furniture. It needs regular maintenance.,
Otherwise she'll become insecure, slow, and embarrassing. We'll take care of the
Technical maintenance so you can focus on your content.

What happens when no one provides care?

Four problems we see daily on poorly maintained sites

Security vulnerabilities

Outdated plugins are the most common point of entry. A hacked website damages the brand, data privacy, and Google ranking simultaneously.

Plugin conflicts

Updates without testing can break layouts, kill forms, or block checkout — you often only notice it through complaints.

Backups that don't work

Many backups work nominally, but are unrecoverable in a real emergency. Nobody tests this—until it's too late.

Slow loading times

Database clutter, unused plugins, missing caches — the site gradually slows down. Google notices this, and so do users.

What we take care of

Nine building blocks in every maintenance

Each of our maintenance agreements contains at least the following:
Points. Larger sites also have additional special tasks (e.g., WooCommerce).
Order monitoring, membership management, custom integrations).

  • Regularly update WordPress core, theme and plugins — with pre-testing in the staging environment.
  • Daily backups, separate from the server (off-site) — and periodically verified.
  • Security hardening: Login protection, file permissions, 2FA for admins, brute-force block.
  • Malware scanning and uptime monitoring around the clock.
  • Database optimization (revisions, spam, transients) automated.
  • Performance monitoring: core web vitals, lighthouse score, cache hit rate.
  • Keeping an eye on SSL certificates and domain renewals.
  • PHP version upgrades, when the provider rolls them out.
  • Monthly short status report — what happened, what was done.
Our audit partner model

For us, care also means: checking compliance status

Standard maintenance covers technology. Our audit partner model goes beyond that.
one step further and also regularly checks
BFSG/Accessibility, GDPR and basic SEO hygiene.
You will receive a short, readable quarterly report containing exactly
It states what was checked, what is OK, and where action is needed.
This ensures that the website not only remains technically sound, but also
legally compliant.

Three levels of care

What depth is suitable for your site?

We don't recommend a standard maintenance plan — but rather one that is tailored to your needs.
It matches the actual complexity of your site and your risk profile.
We will determine which package is most suitable after a brief review of your information.
Website.

base

standard

Basic package plus performance tuning, minor content adjustments, monthly status report.

For whom: For sites with active content maintenance needs.

Audit partner

Standard plus quarterly BFSG/GDPR/SEO audits with proposed measures.

For whom: For sites that need to remain legally compliant and visible — mandatory under the BFSG (Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data).

Frequently Asked Questions

What clients often ask before maintenance begins

Can we cancel the maintenance at any time?

Yes — maintenance agreements are cancellable on a monthly basis. You are not bound by a long-term contract. We dislike losing customers, but prefer to lose them voluntarily rather than by force.

What if the site wasn't built by you?

No problem. We'll conduct a free initial audit, identify technical debt, and propose a maintenance level. Acquisition without a complete rewrite is the rule, not the exception.

Who handles content updates — us or you?

Both options are possible. In the basic package, you maintain the content yourself (we configure the user interface to be suitable for volunteers). In the standard and audit packages, we also handle minor content changes upon request.

How fast are the reaction times?

In the audit partner package, we guarantee short response times during business hours — the specific SLA will be recorded in writing in your agreement.

Will we have access to logs and reports?

Yes, completely. You receive a short status report once a month, and the audit package includes a detailed quarterly report on security, performance, accessibility, and GDPR compliance.

Should we take over the care?

15-minute initial consultation — we will review your site and suggest the appropriate maintenance level.
