With your own SMTP infrastructure (e.g., Amazon SES, dedicated mail servers), this limit can be increased. The drip mode distributes these 500 recipients over hours or days according to your throttle configuration.

Drip = staggered sending with pauses. Instead of sending 500 emails in five minutes (which drags your hosting provider's mail server into a reputational quagmire and lands it in your recipients' spam filters), drip mode sends, for example, 60 emails per hour, only Mon-Thu 9:00-17:00.
